Phyllis Jones Memorial Award
The Phyllis Jones Fund was established through gifts from students, colleagues, and friends of Phyllis Jones (1945-1982). Phyllis Jones was a member of the English Department and Chair of the Women's Studies Committee during its first four formative years. She contributed bravely and profoundly to the education and growth of women in the college and community.
This annual award in her name recognizes and honors student work in areas related to Phyllis Jones's interests: women writers, minority women, women in the community, and the integration of personal and professional goals for women.
Entry categories include: 1. Written work such as a research paper, a portfolio of creative writing, or an honors thesis; 2. A service project which can be described and documented in writing; 3. Work in the performing or visual arts, which can be documented through writing or performance.
DEADLINE: Completed applications should be received at the Gender, Sexuality and Feminist Studies Institute office, Rice 116, by 3:00 p.m., Friday, April 2nd, 2010.
